Frank Miller : '300'

I got myself a copy of Frank Miller's hardcover '300'.

Being a BIG fan of Frank Miller's work from the 'Dark Knight' saga to 'Sin City' Stories to various other independent comics. We all know that Mr Frank Miller would be ultra famous one day with his ever so talented story telling that always builds you up from the beginning until its climatic ending.

Now on to the comic : '300'

The book was loosely based upon a history of a group of 300 spartans fighting against 30,000 or more Persian warriors to defend Sparta from the Persian invasion. Basically, thats the whole plot in less than 30 words. The pencilling graphic was nonetheless very Frank Miller i.e. ala woodcutter line drawings like the ones he did on 'Sin City'. But, when done in color, the impact of the story is far less desirable. Nevertheless, we all know that graphics are not Frank Miller's forte. If you want a good looking book with shallow story, just go buy yourself a Spawn comic (with all due respect to Todd McFarlane, he kicks ass in pencilling but story telling he is on a whole different level like in B1!!!).

The Book was actually quite a disappointing read for me as I expected a far more darker and grim storyline coming from Mr. Miller we come to know throughout all these years. The plot was predictable but the violence was phenomenal as always. Imagine killing thousands of enemy soldiers and piling up their bodies to make a defensive wall against your foe. That in itself would make any opposing forces have their balls in their throats.

The Movie : '300'

One word describe this movie : 'WOW!'
If the movie is as good as the trailers suggested, we may have a new action hero by the name of Gerard Butler. Well, you know him right....uhhhmmm....this guy has acted in alot of films like 'Tomorrow Never Dies', 'Reign of Fire', 'Lara Croft : Cradle of life' all but forgettable roles.

Gerard Butler before admitted into IMH

He shrugs off this bono lookalike style and put on like 300lbs (pun intended) of pure muscle mass and six-packs that can be seen even under an overcoat to play King Leonidas of Sparta. Oh yeah, I forgot he also grow a full beard ala Gladiator.

Take a look at the trailer . This is a must watch movie for me releasing on 8 March 2007.
